Paper Art (Grades K-2, 3-8, 1 week)

Who invented paper? The origin of the word paper comes from the Egyptian Papyrus. They made papyrus paper from plants along the Nile river. The Chinese also have a story about inventing paper. We will make our paper like the Egyptians and Chinese but with modern materials and the help of a blender. Then, we will USE PAPER in ways that you never thought of before!

Paper like you have never noticed it before! Weave paper, Roll paper beads, Marbleize paper, Carve into magazines and books are just some of the ways we will use this versatile material to create beautiful art.

Gallery Show

On Friday, we will finish up all projects, arrange artwork and setup their display areas. Time to prepare the Sky Kids Gallery with a BIG art show welcome sign.

Put words to your process: What is your favorite part of the project? What would you do differently the next time? What advice would you give another artist trying to use the same materials?

Afternoon Display: Parents, teachers, staff, and fellow campers get ready to feast your eyes on our paper wonderland! Students are the tour guides for this special gallery exhibit
