Heping Elementary School

Introduction

Heping is a public experimental elementary school (Grades K-6) located in Taipei City with over 200 students across Grades K-6. It’s a young school and has a progressive, theme-based curriculum that focuses on health/fitness, emotional well-being, and learning self-sufficiency. Heping uses a project-based instruction method rather than the traditional subject-based approach, which is typically found in Taiwan’s public education system.

Alongside core courses such as Mandarin and Math, the school program includes grade-based themes that fall under 3 groupings: Fit for Life, Social Responsibility, and Experience Design. The theme-based courses allow students to learn through exploration, inquiry, and experience, guided by teachers and driven by student initiative.

In-School Program

Visiting students have the opportunity to join a special in-school program for Grades 1-5 in the weeks of June 17-21 and June 24-28

Special Note: For current 6th graders, we recommend joining the 5th grade as the school’s 6th graders are preparing for graduation.

This is a fully immersive Mandarin learning opportunity in a live local school and classroom setting. Spaces are limited to 3-4 students per grade per week. Priority will be given to those who can attend both weeks.

Registration Update: We are full for June 17-21 and June 24-28. Please consider the CIO Maker Camp option for the weeks of June 17-21 and June 24-28

Registration Specifics for Heping:

1) Please complete the registration form first (click on button below for the registration process page with form).

2) After reviewing your submission, we will contact you to schedule a video chat with you and your child(ren). This step will help us confirm whether the program is a good fit for you and the school.

3) Once your registration and booking is complete, we will send the confirmed student list to the school. The school will arrange for buddies (current Heping students in each grade) so that our visiting students and their buddies can start to get to know each other prior to the in-school session. Target start date for online exchange is early April.

Class Cancellation / Change:

• We reserve the right to cancel a class session if the number of students enrolled does not meet the minimum or there are unforeseen circumstances.

• All bookings are non-refundable unless the class(es) is cancelled by Sky Kids and/or a force majeure situation arises that requires cancellation. If you request cancellation for any reason, we can apply the remaining credit (minus materials cost incurred and classes already taken) to another class/program (valid for one year).

• If you miss a class, you may request to make-up the class in a later time-slot as long as there is space available. No refunds are allowed in this case.

• Sky Kids and Heping Elementary reserves the right to change program content / teacher as needed.
